I love living in a small town, especially when said small town is very close to a bigger town and not too far from some cities. Our small town is one of those "two stop lights on Main Street" kind of places. The shop keepers are usually the owners and always have time to chat. The town history museum covers 3 tables in the Chamber of Commerce building. The fire department and police department share the same building. Everyone smiles.
I love living in a small town.
Our small town had an event this month which made me love it even more. We have a small theatrical group at our civic center, and they do all kinds of summer day camps. This year, one of the camps has a Cinderella theme. The coolest part is that the whole town got in on the production.
Over half of the businesses on Main Street participated in a month-long event where children had to visit various shops and find Cinderella's lost slippers. Each child got a prize when he or she completed the task, AND each child received an invitation to one of two Royal Teas with Cindy herself. How cool is that?
We completed our mission this afternoon, and have our Tea invites in hand. The Misses couldn't be more excited. In the process, we got to see a side of our small town that we hadn't ever taken the time to see. We found a new favorite store for finding birthday gifts, and a couple of pizza places to try out. We also met some very nice people.
Now I am looking forward to exploring more of our small town!
